It is a flexible, non-bureaucratic structure, which operates in an informal mode and aims at simplifying judicial cooperation between the Member States. It gives unofficial support to the central authorities as stipulated in their instruments, and facilitates relations between different courts.

European Judicial Network
The European Judicial Network (EJN) is a network of national contact points for the facilitation of judicial co-operation in criminal matters. The EJN is composed of Contact Points of the Member States, as well as of the European Commission and of a Secretariat based in The Hague. National contact points are designated by each Member State among Central authorities in charge of international judicial co-operation, judicial authorities and other competent authorities with specific responsibilities in the field of international judicial co-operation, both in general and for certain forms of serious crime, such as organized crime, corruption, drug trafficking or terrorism.

Eurojust
Eurojust is a judicial cooperation body created to help provide safety within an area of freedom, security and justice. Eurojust was set up by the Council of the European Union in February 2002 to improve the fight against serious crime by facilitating the optimal co-ordination of action for investigations and prosecutions covering the territory of more than one Member State with full respect for fundamental rights and freedoms.

Court of Justice of the European Union
Since the establishment of the Court of Justice of the European Union in 1952, its mission has been to ensure that "the law is observed" "in the interpretation and application" of the Treaties. As part of that mission, the Court of Justice of the European Union: reviews the legality of the acts of the institutions of the European Union, ensures that the Member States comply with obligations under the Treaties, and interprets European Union law at the request of the national courts and tribunals.

EUROPEAN JUDICIAL ATLAS IN CIVIL MATTERS
Council Directive 2003/8/EC of 27 January 2003 to improve access to justice in cross-border disputes by establishing minimum common rules relating to legal aid for such disputes seeks to promote the application of legal aid in cross-border disputes for persons who lack sufficient resources where aid is necessary to secure effective access to justice. The ATLAS provides you with information concerning the application of the Directive and a user-friendly tool for filling in the forms.
